The Florida Chinese Teachers Association (FCTA) is a nonpolitical, nonprofit educational and professional organization. FCTA organizes an annual Florida Statewide Chinese Competition for middle and high school Chinese learners. FCTA is also an affiliate of the Florida Foreign Language Teachers Association (FFLA). Its annual state conference is held every October in conjunction with FFLA. The mission of FCTA is to promote the study, teaching, and research of the Chinese language and culture on all educational levels; to provide a platform for Chinese instructors to share and exchange teaching experiences, ideas and information; to serve as a source for professional development and lifelong teaching; to enhance the quality of Chinese language teaching at all levels; and to provide a network of support service to Chinese language teachers and Chinese language learners.

2012 FCTA Elections
Dear FCTA Members:
The following positions on the FCTA Board come up for election this October. If you are interested in nominating somebody or yourself to be a candidate for any of these positions, please send the nomination form to the FCTA President, Yee-chen Robson. Please also read FCAT bylaw at http://www.fcta99.com/bylaw.html if you would like to know more about each position.

September 1-15: Voting
FCTA will have a ballot and procedures for voting by mail in September. The votes will be counted by two assigned FCTA Election Tellers, who are not running for office. The ballot and more information will be sent to FCTA members at the end of August.
Oct 18-20:At the Chinese Business Meeting (at the FFLA Conference) in October 2012, the votes will be tallied and the 2013-2014 FCTA President will be announced. (Oct 18-20 FFLA conference: It will be located at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, St. Augustine, Florida. Please visit www.FFLA.us for more information.)
Overview & Requirements - Nominating teacher must be a current member of FCTA.
- Nominated teacher must be a current member of FCTA.
Application Process - Nominating teacher completes the nomination form and notifies nominee.
- Nominee responds with a 500 words or less biography to describe your teaching, leadership and community service experiences.
All materials must be postmarked no later than May 15, 2012.
